MASCULINITY

From-link
Masculinity , which refers to traits which are stereotypically attributed to men , is typically by the image of a strong , technically competent , ambitious , self sufficient and authoritative leader who can maintain and control their emotions . In our society men are suppose to be muscular , powerful , dominant , aggressive and that they have to be the head of the family.

Masculinity is equal to social expectation of being a man , the term masculinity refers to the roles , behavior and attributes that are considered appropriate for boys and men in given society , Masculinity is constructed and defined socially , historically and politically , rather than being biologically driven . toxic masculinity involves culture pressure for men to behave in certain way , and its likely this effects all boys and men in some fashion , toxic masculinity refers to the notion that some people ideas of manliness perpetuate domination homophobia and aggression .Signs of toxic masculinity can be violence , aggression , bullying and harassment , misogyny . Toxic masculinity can also take the form of bullying of boys by their peer pressure and domestic violence of boys by their peer pressure and domestic violence at home . What does it really means to be a man , depends upon who you ask, but the stereotypes   goes something like a real man is stoic and unemotional, a real man is physically strong. Protector. A real man doesn’t show weakness- ask for help or show vulnerability. Research shows that traditional expectations of masculinity have harmful consequences. Men are far less likely than women to seek mental health treatment ,and data indicates that men commit a huge majority of the violent crimes reported in US each year. There are many different ways to be a man. Acknowledging this provides a opportunity for everyone to be respected for who they are and in turn give respect to others.

The fight was first about equality between men and women, now the fight stands to vanish the discrimination of hierarchies, of social structures like gender, caste, race, ethnicity, sexuality, ability and class. So, unfortunately equality can’t be achieved just by smashing patriarchy. When it comes to the section of gender, there are various hierarchies like- we will quite generally solve the social status of cisgender women first, and then the transgender’s. Consider caste in it-   a transgender dalit women who wants to get married to a heterosexual man, but that wouldn’t be accepte...

MARGINALISED GENDER IN LITERATURE

Change is a necessary element to any field subjective or objective, to widen  its perspective.  from- link Literature, which was inherently a male dominated field, was revolutionised by the slow intrusion and inclusion of marginalised genders. In earlier days access to literature of any language required a mastery in language which was unfortunately only a privilege that the men of the family had. Yet there were unconventional people, who believed that their daughters deserved as much of right in the field of language as their sons. Many extraordinary personalities were born of this. but unfortunately literary piece written by a woman was looked down upon, considered unequal to the ones written by male. We might as ourselves, how to solve this problem and somehow reach out to people with our words? Could we believe that the society held its prejudice so high and mighty, such cruel and insensible discriminations that people would rather lose their identity than their art...
